Thank you everyone. I'm blown away by the responses, I really am touched. I've always painted and sketched as a hobby, but lately I've taken to painting more regularly, and mainly pictures of animals. I find it very therapeutic. To answer the question about the medium - it is indeed acrylics. I want to give watercolours a go but I love the way you can almost get it 3D with acrylics. I'm contemplating taking a few of my paintings to the next car boot sale I do to perhaps advertise doing this sort of thing for others and all the kind words have encouraged me Thank you Try and get into the craft marquee at a country show if you can get to one; lots of animal lovers attend these, who would love portraits of their animals. A car boot sale may work but you might only find bargain hunters there, and you need to set a reasonable price for your work to reflect your talent!

I just want to say thank you, to everyone in this thread that shared kind words about my painting. It was the encouragement I needed and I'm now working on my 11th commissioned piece of artwork I wouldn't have bothered advertising if it wasn't for the response here, and I'm very glad I did

Have all the commissions been people's pets?

Yep, all pets. Mixture of acrylic paintings and pencil drawings. I didn't think I'd get anywhere, I'm really pleased

That is wonderful vacanteyes! Are you able to show us some, or is that the wrong thing to do? I have no idea what the etiquette is around this sort of thing. I love what you have shown us of your work so far; would love to see more ........

Well done on both getting out there and getting so much work! I am delighted that we on the forum were helpful to you. And if you are able to show us what you are doing that would be great too. All strength to you!

I can share some work Reptiles are my favourite to do, but I've done mostly dogs. I did get one lady ask me to paint her two very unusual looking chickens too though! I enjoyed that one This one is a reticulated python, this was commissioned by someone for his friend that breeds these. Then the guy who received the painting liked it enough to commission a painting of an albino hognose snake for his wife who breeds those Then I've done a few dog drawings too And this is my favourite photo of all: I hope that's not too many pictures. I just didn't know which ones to share. I'm currently painting a little pygmy hedgehog, some cows, and a sphynx cat

Amazing work - that talent of yours really does need using as you've a gift people would understandably want to share in. Beautiful work.
