The cere on one of my cock birds has gone completely brown. He seems happy enough but am i right in thinking his kidneys have packed up?

He's in the flight at the moment as he apears to be fit and healthy apart from the brown cere. If I hadnt seen his cere bright blue i'd have swore he was a hen. Do you think he will recover?

Hi Hayley, my little Blue has a brown cere and has had for a number of years now. I hope all ends well for your cock and that you weren't eager to breed with him! Blue is 6 years old now, so no youngster, and while I have no intention of trying my hand at breeding, I can imagine it could be rather sad if you did want some chicks from yours. Blue is just the same as he has always been except for larger and softer poos but whether this has anything to do with his "condition" no one seems to know. Good luck with your cock, hope he reverts to type for you soon!

I was wondering if a cock with a brown cere may have hormonal problems, does the same thing apply to a hen with a permanent blue cere? As I have a hen with a blue cere who breeds readily. I hope your lad might be the same as her Hayley

I hope your lad might be the same as her Hayley I have a hen who has a white/blue cere since a year, never turned brown, and she never breeds and doesn't allow cocks near her.
