All looking perfectly clean Mick. Your hard work paid off thanks BB.... but it could do with all the white re painted ...as theres lots of marks and paint off... that looks bad ...but thats for the weather that lets me leave .....the budgies in the outer flight all night so the smell dont harm them...summer job...me thinks..... ..

I think the female from my breeding pair may have mites! D: All of a sudden she has lost the feathers from under her eyes! I have no idea what to do Her eggs are due to hatch any day.

Can you foster the eggs?

They are my only pair breeding so fostering wouldn't work The first chick hatched today. I will try to get a close-up now, but she's not out of the box much.

I got one picture of the better side of her face before she scarpered off. I'm going to try again all day. It's weird, though, that side of her face doesn't look as bad today. The other side is though :/ I'll post a picture of her mate afterward. He seems perfect to me. I actually have some invermectin here - I just don't know if I should use it because of the chicks.

THANK YOU so much for this information- our son's bird who he's only had for a few short months has within the last 2 weeks started getting dry around his face/mouth/ and his beak is turning to the side- doesn't look well- I've ordered the med you listed here and waiting arrival...so glad I found this site and info.
Anyone know the progression- if shipping takes 1 week to 10 days- is that soon enough for this little guy to wait? And is there something I can do at home in the meantime to stop the progression? Should I apply Vaseline?
THANKS!

Should I apply Vaseline? THANKS! You can rub a little on his beak and legs, daily, until the Ivermectin arrives. Vasaline petroleum jelly works by suffocating the mites. Makes sure you don't put it on the bird's nares (nostrils above the beak). Make sure you're getting 0.1% Invermectin. The stronger concentrations are too much for small animals. Part the feathers behind the neck at the back of the head and put one drop on the skin. Do that once a week for 3 weeks.
