My sons Guinea pig died last night. He was 6 years old. He was a bit off colour yesterday but was still eating and drinking. He was a wonderful pig, feisty and a real character we all loved him very much. He will be missed. Goodnight sweet boy.

Sorry for your sons loss. That is the most unfortunate thing for guinea pigs, they have such a short life. RIP bubbles.

That is true pops, we used to keep rats but they have even shorter lives and the loss was just too upsetting for all of us. They are such lovely animals, rats and guinea pigs.

That's so sad. It's hard when they don't have long life spans, although losing a pet after any time is. Night Bubbles

It's not just about a short life that these creatures have, they are so tame and loveable. They work their way into ones life as any pet does. I still remember my daughters pet Guinea pig passing away when she was just about starting school. We had my daughter wrap Squeak, as it was called, in an old white handkerchief (washed) and bury him in a little grave in the front garden. We all stood round and said a little prayer. That small action consoled my daughter no end, and she accepted what had happened.
I've just realized we now have Bubble & Squeak in Guinea pig heaven.

We've had so many pets over the years, I live in fear of digging up someone's remains when gardening. Oh and Bubbles partner died last year, he was called Squeak.

I'm thinking that Squeak was a very popular name for a Guinea pig. I'm pretty sure our Squeak's remains have been re-buried a time or two by now. It's the thought that counts.

That makes it sound like we don't look after our animals very well and have a lot die. We have had around 20 rats over the years and they only live for 3 years at most, we had 13 at one time. We've also had pet mice and they are even shorter lived. Been here 18 years so they are all buried around the garden. We take them to the vet now to be cremated.
