As the first 2 have iris rings and the second 2 don't I'd say the first 2 are older but having said that I have 2 birds coming up to 2 years old and they don't have iris rings so who knows? It's not possible to tell the exact age beyond the first moult really.

Actually some varieties such as recessive pieds won't generate iris rings, even ino's who are masking recessive pieds won't generate iris rings with the age. but the birds in question do generate iris rings.

I thought that about my 2. The hen is olive green cinnamon and her brother who is an olive green. Their other brother has iris rings.

I have a hard time with age. The last one looks like he is the youngest. I'm only going on the fact that some look hefty. I have no expertise in this issue believe me though.

Lol.. Grandma and Grandpa bird and their two cheeky middle aged children underneath. To be fair, bird three and four don't look more than a couple of years old.

Number four looks quite young to me - less than twelve months old. He has no, or very faint iris rings, judging by that photo.

It's hard to tell if they are iris rings or not.. I think they probably are... His eyes are really big as well so I am guessing younger rather than older. Three seems very young too, but has more obvious iris rings in the photo.

Both are over 8 months old, no one can tell how much, as after this it's hard to guess the exact age.

If these were not your pictures, I would have thought that the eyes have been tempered with. As it very unusual to have such black eyes with this cere color and clear head, especially the last picture. Post more pictures of these two.

img src=" " alt=" " img src=" " alt=" " img src=" " alt=" " Any idea about age of this bird? img src=" " alt=" " budgiebudgie: Above are more pics of cobalt male, as said above others are not my birds. The sky blue show quality bird is also mine. Regarding tempering I would never use this word to anybody as it is a forum to learn and share our hobbies, there is no reason what so ever for doing so.
