I'm relatively new to budgies and I've had my lovely Smokey for a few weeks now, I got him from a local pet shop and he's settling in nicely and is a happy little fellow but I always find myself endlessly searching the internet to find out his mutation! I believe he is either violet or cobalt as his main colourings are like a mauve or purple-y blue. It doesn't end there though, I'm sure that his mutation is not as simple as just being violet or cobalt as he has the purple-y blue colour in his wings, as well as having lots of white in his wings and tail. (You can probably all guess I'm new to budgies with my descriptions hehehe) I'm guessing he could perhaps be either spangled or opaline, or even greywing or clearwing too (the tips of his wings are a creamy white colour) but I can't be sure, as again I'm too much of a novice! All I'm sure of is that his markings are not what I have seen before! I will include photos of Smokey with and without flash and hopefully one of you guys will be able to help me Thanks in advance

The photos are not very good, sorry, but based on these I will guess at a cobalt opaline spangle. Better, more focused photos would be good. Plus photos following BB's directions regarding photos for mutations will be a big help too.

I agree with the opaline spangle (double factor? or are my eyes just going crazy), but the body colour isn't really clear enough to identify.

Pictures can sometimes confuse even the simplest mutations. But its very hard to tell about Greywings, Clearwings, Dilute etc, if the pictures are not clear.
