Thanks for your kind words. I enjoyed the build.
A loft full of planes.......Do you fly them? I build large scale planes. Recently finished the one you see in my avatar, an Avro Vulcan bomber, 6ft wingspan, and currently building a 7ft wingspan Vickers Valiant bomber. I love British Cold War planes

If your OH ever wants to sell then I can put the feelers out locally, I'm just North of Basingstoke and belong to the local flying club. I see you're nearby, so any prospective buyers won't have to travel far for them.

Welcome to the forum, Darren and Lorraine and five budgies. Lovely couples you have there, and of course sweet little Charlie is a ripper. Is this budgie fetish a Darren-bug or a Darren-and-Lorraine bug? Just asking as many of us are alone in our budgie-love, simply tolerated by the OH.

Hi Hezz, and thank you for the welcome!
It was around 16 days ago, the wife said (and has done many times before) that she wanted a pair of Lovebirds. I said OK, as I have my dogs and my RC planes, let's go and see some, so we went to an aviary in south Hampshire where we spoke with the staff. They immediately advised us against Lovebirds as we both wanted hand tame and free flight in the lounge, "Have you thought of a budgie?" they asked. We both had budgies as kids apparently, so we ended up leaving with Charlie, a large cage, and half of the shop's toy range! Unfortunately, our little Charlie has a bit of damage on his cere apparently caused by his mother at some point, and had been taken from her to avoid further issues. I shall try and get a photo of it, but I have refrained from showing it so far. He doesn't seem bothered by it one little bit, but it is a blemish on what is a beautiful young gorgeous little budgie. We fell in love with him straight away, and within 24hrs of having him I had him sitting on my finger and flying around the lounge. He is such a character, and now also goes back to his cage for food after a free flight. Anyways, I have a decent sized "man cave" where I build large scale model planes, and thought that one of my worktops that I fitted would be a nice size for an indoor aviary, so I designed one after looking at loads on-line and reading where people had found pit falls in their designs, and 4 days later I completed ours. Prior to this aviary build, I would sand balsa and foam in the room during a plane build, but now that is not possible with them in there, and the wife is happy because the carpet on the landing no longer has saw dust and foam bits on it from when I walk out of the room (it just has husks and seed now, lol). Lorraine is currently with me in my enthusiasm, and helps clean them etc, but I think it'll just be me that has to put my hand in there if we ever need to remove them! Lorraine handles Charlie with no problem and is happy for him to have his free flight (and doesn't moan when he's poohed on her hand or leg), so she does have the bug....... for now. It was also Lorraine that said "We can breed them...." and "You could turn your garden shed into an outdoor aviary and have a large flight built onto it......" Would you say she has the bug? Kind regards
Edit: The possibility is that I will stop all plane building in the house and move my stuff to the garage, however it doesn't have power connected as it is actually next door to our next door neighbour (weird street set up, don't ask!) and just use the room as a full out and out bird room, but it would need sound proofing if we go into breeding.
