Isn't this just spectacular? These are Golden Pendas, native to this part of Australia only and Cairns' floral emblem. At the moment each and every one is in spectacular bloom providing the lories a veritable feast of nectar. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a close up with a lorie to be seen. But the trees themselves are worth a look: Close up: If anyone wants to read more: www.abc.net.au/queensland/stories/s1692654.htm

I feel that way too, but I don't like spiders or snakes! Well, snakes are alright, but I've only been near non-venomous ones before.

(rofl)Snakes are too much of a worry either, not keen on the little skinny ones that move fast but only because they make my jump with their sudden movements. A bit like worms in the garden, if one suddenly pops out while I'm digging it makes me jump, but I'm fine as soon as I know what it is.

Oh, Moogie, trust you!! It can be your own fuzzy-wuzzy-Moogie tree! Oh, Ira, do you mean things like this: This would have to be one of the ugliest spiders I have come across. After a cyclone many spiders find themselves homeless. This one rehomed himself outside my laundry door. It looks like it is wearing a bad wig!

What sort of spider is that Hezz? Do you get "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" over there? I know it's filmed over there but wondered if it's actually shown.

SQ, I will go looking, but not really sure I will find an answer. And I don't know about "........get me out of here". Possibly. I watch very little TV. BB, they are lovely, aren't they. There are a few streets lined with them - looking spectacular at the moment. Downside is the flowering doesn't last long. They will all be starting to look ratty in a week or two. And a little bit of trivia .... they seem to be promoted to flower by wild weather - hence their flashy showing now, a month after the cyclone passed by. Skysmum, Trust you, but I think this might be a bit beyond your sunroom. They don't have a huge smell, no. Marianne, do you want me to try and find him again??? I could post him off to you. But believe me, you don't want it; it is pig-ugly!! Bad toupe and all.
