No, OP, I really don't think so. mintysowner, I would keep a really close eye on what is going on; even keeping a photographic documentation maybe on a weekly basis ....... because living with a condition, we do become immune to what is going on. At 10 years of age, have you considered giving him an increase in protein, and extra vitamins to keep him feeling good into his double digits? Thank you so much for everyone's replies, I will start to put a bit of savlon onto Minty's chest and see how it goes. There does seem to be some new feathers trying to come through which is a good sign. Hezz, I really would love to know what is good supplement wise to give to Minty, he won't go near any fruit or veg he only likes his seed, millet spray & seed sticks (which I try to keep as treats as I know they are high in fat/sugar). What is the best way to supplement his seeds? He has his cuttlefish also.

Whereabouts are you? I really only know about supplements in Australia, (and not too much about them either, really) so can't really help you out there. Are you in the UK? Plenty of members on here should be able to help with suitable supplements if you are. BudgiesBuddy, I thought there was a similarity to Elfie's feathers there as well. Moogie used an aloe vera spray for Elf, there are other anti-feather-plucking sprays as well. But you say you haven't noticed him doing this ........ It is a hard one. If it is plucking, that is causing the bald spot, there are a number of other factors to look at as well, one being a vitamin deficiency, particularly Vit A, but read through this for some other insights: Feather-Plucking
