for the past 2 days I've noticed that my female is biting hard (more than usual), fighting with the male, won't let him touch me or me feed him and nipping hard on the veggies (like carrots or green part of the watermellon) normal?

Female buds are generally more grumpy than the males.

Female budgies have mood swings - just like all us ladies! I had a female budgie when I was younger and there were some days when she became very irritable everything would annoy her. Even walking past her cage would result in an angry screech lol! But within a couple of days she was back to her normal self, and I'm sure your little madame will be too.

Some hens are simply just grumps. Not all are, but generally this is the way of the women.

Someone I know who used to breed budgies pointed out that as budgies nest in holes rather than open nests (i.e. only one escape route), females have evolved to be very aggressive and protective if a predator appears at the nest. This means that only the offspring of the most budzilla females will survive and in turn pass on their genes.

Yes I restrained myself from making any remarks in this thread for fear of being black balled.

Women are like family, we can say what we like about us, but if anyone else dares to, they will be jumped on from a great hight.
