Whilst I was chatting to Whiskers this morning I saw him do this
I have shortened the clip because he carried on preening for a while with the foot tucked up. It seems fine now as he has been climbing about as usual.

Mmmmm not so sure OP - perhaps it could be an itch he cant reach to scratch? The fact he is using it afterwards means he is clearly not in that much discomfort. See what the other experienced members think tho

Bailey does that quite a bit, but not for as long. It could well be an ache or itch as Sam has said, but he also looks fascinated with his foot..

The fact that he was looking at the foot seemed to me as though it was involuntary.

I hope when someone comes along who can help you OP, they tell you it's nothing to worry about, Whiskers deserves to be a happy wee boy, and you deserve all the happiness with him after all you did to give him a happy home with yourself and Joey. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Thank you Jellybean. I have just seen him do it again. I'm sure he will be fine. I'll put it down to settling in with me.

I think he's just having a bit of a twitch. Sort of like we might open and close our hands to get the blood going.

Thank you all. Nothing to worry about. I should hate to tell Geoff that he was poorly.

That did look strange, it almost looked as if he was having a touch of cramp maybe. But had to smile at the way he was looking at it as if it didn't belong to him, as you say an involuntary movement.

I've just been watching him do it with his other foot. He watches it for a while then catches it in his beak. Very amusing.

I thought the same as skysmum - that he might have gotten a cramp or a spasm, but doing it with both feet; that is a different story.

BB: If Whiskers were a dog I think he would be chasing his own tail. Is this the correct assumption, please?
