I don't think fans cause draughts do they? I seem to remember long ago on here that lots of people put fans in their birdrooms in the summer. I have also used black tea before on a poorly bird. I hope the meds work soon for you, it is such a worry when they are ill.

I was always told to avoiddrafts, the doors open could certainly cause it for house birds i would have thought fans would have the same affect? It was just a suggestion to avoid, eliminate possible causes.

I put my fan on during the summer, and it doesn't seem to chill them at all. It's a ceiling fan and I have it on the lowest setting. In your case though, I would opt out of the fan option. He is clearly already chilled and you don't want to make it any worse.

Hi, chiprockskip. Sorry I am only now catching up with your thread. How is Rocky today? Something you may not realise is that budgies' normal body temperature is much higher than ours so when they are sick they lose a lot of heat and use a lot of energy trying to stay warm, so even though it is hot for you, Rocky is still going to feel cold. But I was so happy to read through and notice that Rocky had been eating and drinking again, and as you say, who cares that the white t-shirt has been given the Rocky-christening. The fact that his poops were watery and green is because he hadn't been eating so once he started drinking again he had more water to expel, and the faecal part of his poop should catch up a little later. The cooled, weak black tea is a good stop-gap in their water when sick; the other thing you may think to keep in your budgie medicine box is Guardian Angel. www.birdcareco.com/English/TheBirdCareCompany/ProductInformation/Guardian-Angel It is great energy source for sick birds, especially when they are not eating properly. That has probably been mentioned before, as you do have an array of goodies to add to their water - the "soup" . The baytril is an antibiotic, yes.

Rest in Peace, sweet handsome Rocky. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. They leave us much too soon. I so thought Rocky would be okay. Hugs to you and Skipper. Rocky's death is so very sad for everyone.

chiprockskip, I am so sorry to be reading this. I thought from your previous post that poor dear Rocky had turned a corner for the better. My thoughts are very much with you at this time, and nothing I can say will make it any better. Take particular care of little Skipper; he may be missing his little friend as well; you two need each other right now. Rest in peace, little Rocky; you know you were dearly loved.

Oh, chiprockskip, I am so very sorry to hear this. I about started to cry when i read it. I know exactly what you're going through right now. At least you were able to hold him as he passed. Holly was at the vet's office when she passed. You were lucky in that sense. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Skipper during this painful and stressful time. Unfortunately it seems like they get better and then take a health nosedive, usually not recovering. Keep that in mind for the future. It's very clear that little Rocky was a gem in your eyes and heart, And I will pray for his soul to make it to the rainbow bridge. You have our deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences during this time of pain and misery. Take your time to grieve, and be there for Skipper's grief as well. As Hezz has already stated, You two need each other, now more than ever.
The rainbow Bridge:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
