I agree with Lemonade that Booji's beak isn't just banging his toys - the length for starters is way over what you would normally expect. I have heard of the red palm oil, but not had anything to do with it or known anyone who has.

He is eating the bread with the palm oil in it but doesn't seem to want the palm oil by itself. I have a call in to the vet to see if there is anything else I can do (like test for bacteria). Also I want to know approximately how long it can take to see improvement if it is a dietary issue. I know there is not a definite answer with something like this but i just want to make sure I am doing all I can and nothing is missed. He is fine otherwise - poops looking good and personality is totally normal so is frustrating. I want to see all those dark and red spots growing out and disappearing - that would make my heart smile.

I am afraid there is no answer to your question. It really does depend on how much liver damage he has already, whether this can be fixed by diet, as it could a genetic disposition. All you can do is pull out all the stops and do your best. Unfortunately there are no guarantees that anything or everything will work.

I know what you mean Hezz....and am walking the fine line between doing too much and not doing enough. The new vet suggested crushing their pellets and sprinkling it into their seed mix and also rolling their millets in it when I give those. It seems to be working as far as them ingesting it in the seed bowl because it is like a powder now, and I just tried it on the millet this morning so will see how that goes. I had been mixing the pellets in all along with their seed mix uncrushed but don't know if they ever ate it - probably not as I never saw any of it flung around the cage but plenty left in the bowl. And have been picking them additional fresh greens daily from our garden too which they love, thankfully. I say 'they' because what one gets the other must too or they become jealous - is kind of funny... I don't want to bombard them all at once with a bunch of new things though because I won't know what's working so I think that may be enough for now...
