As some of you may know I lost my beloved Toni Poni a few months back leaving Charlie sad and lonely. I got a new bud a few weeks back called Basil who is just gorgeous and they have become firm friends.
I am away house/dog/cat/chicken sitting for a couple of weeks. Anyway my OH told me on the phone the other night that Charlie had gone missing. No windows open except up on 2nd floor where the buds never go and besides the door was pulled to. OH had looked behind things and under things but couldn't find him. I was so upset. Anyway 2 days later I get a text saying Charlie has been found. basil had been sitting on top of kitchen cupboards and was chatting to himself and my OH heard Charlie answer (thank you Basil) after some investigation OH climbed onto work surface and discovered lost bud had fallen down a gap between wall and top of cupboard. OH fished him out with a coat hanger and apart from tail feather loss, he is fine. I just feel sick at the thought my poor little bud could have not been discovered and died down there. Needless to say gap has been plugged. We didn't know about the gap as it is a rented flat.
despite the fact my little white bud maintains a total suspicion of me at all times I love him so much and am so happy he has been found.

Charlie and Basil are really good friends. Basil is a hero, helping your OH find Charlie. A wonderful story about friendship. So happy that Charlie was found safe and sound.

So glad things turned out in the end. Lucky he was found as I don't think he would have gone much longer without food and water. They do give us cause for concern.

Would have been worse had I been at home but then again I may have found him sooner.

Oh well done Basil, what a clever little chap. I bet that really had you worried for a couple of days. So glad all is well now.

What a scare. Thank goodness you found him in time. Poor little guy must have been awfully frightened.

Lucky Charlie to have Basil to bring OH to the rescue. That could have ended so very badly. Let this be a lesson to anyone who thinks it will never happen to them.

OH said he had lost his tail feathers (not for the first time) but he flew straight back to his age and was nibbling millet in no time and now seems back to normal. He has come on in such leaps and bounds since we got Basil, I would have been devastated to have lost him forever.
I just had a horrible sick feeling when he was missing and it was just horrid. Can't wait to get home on Monday to see my gorgeous buds.

The reunion will be wonderful! Charlie will be so glad to see you. Bet your OH will be happy, too.
