Well, i noticed before we went away that Ted's Tumour was getting larger, however while we have been away it has grown dramatically and he has plucked the feathers away from the area . Now my heart is very much ruling my head on this, ive been here three time's over the years with these tumours and each one has been different, its never easy . He is eating, drinking and appears to be happy and in no pain, he still enjoys a little fly around but i have to be vigilant incase he falls or injures it in some way. Its sooooo hard, at a first glance he looks as beautiful as ever until you spot the hideous thing which is now restricting his movement. Am i being selfish keeping him like this?. Ive always known when the right time came to end any suffering but i cant be sure at the moment, we all know how they cover up how they feel. These next few days will test my emotions im sure .

Poor sweet Teddy. You and he will be able to decide when the time is right. You will just know it in your heart. I just hope he still has plenty of life left for fun. Hugs to you both.

This is not what I wanted to be reading ....... poor wee Teddy. But, as you say, you have known when the time had come with the others; for you to be doubting that now, perhaps that time has not yet arrived? If he seems happy and chirpy enough, why not allow his disposition to help you to decide?

Oh poor wee Ted. I think Hezz is right - as much as people in the situation would love someone else to make the call it is something you know in your heart of hearts what is best for them.
Is there any way that you can perhaps talk to your vet and see what he/she says? Even if it is an understanding and reassurance call?
Sending my best wishes to you and the little fella xx

A very difficult call for you to make. They can't tell us when they are in pain or suffering. As already said, you will know when it is time. Best wishes.

skysmum I have to agree with Hezz and samwiseg there. You will know when the time is right. You both have my sympathies on this decision, I am sure you will make the right one.

Thank you all. He has been under the vet, the last visit was 5 months ago, he said there was nothing to be done, which i knew anyway, he offered to pts but there was no way at that time and he has been fine, i think they can jump the gun sometimes. As you all say for me to be having doubts the time has not yet come but i do feel it is very close now . Thanks again, its just good to sound these things out with like minded peeps, my mind got in a muddle about it yesterday and i was doubting myself.

Poor you, I do feel for you being in this position. Would he be eating if suffering?

Yes he would, ffiscool, I feel. Only if he were really poorly will he stop eating. Hugs, skysmum, to you and dear Teddy. It is a terrible place to be and no-one really can do anything to help.

Sorry to hear he's relapsing. I know you'll do the best by him, whatever that may be.

Poor you, I do feel for you being in this position. Would he be eating if suffering? Yes, i agree with Hezz, my little Fern was eating to the very end and without going into too much detail (not nice ) she was very ill when i took her to be pts. They hide it extremely well which make it even harder to make the call.

Thank's for asking Hezz. I feel a bit pants about it tbh but ive accepted the inevitable (sort of), its just keeping a very close eye on him and making sure he doesn't suffer. As you know only too well its hard to see them going down hill and you are powerless to do anything about it . I collected Metacam from the vets today to have on hand should i think he is any pain, which is a comfort, i don't think he is in any at the moment. I cant believe how well he still fly's given the size of it but i need him to carry on as normal as possible so that i can detect when things change. Its just a waiting game at the moment .
