www.northernparrots.com/willow-wizard-hanging-parrot-toy-prod344507/The budgies loved playing with this toy and thankfully I was watching them when Tyler got himself entangled in the 'string' the balls are made of. They would pick at the string until small bits came away which seemed ok, but one long piece came out which I got rid of, then another a little longer, then another! I could see Tyler was distressed while Bonnie and Mischief kept well out of his way as he fluttered about trying to rid himself of the tangle that was slowly wrapping itself round his tiny body! It was very distressing for me too, so I've taken the toy out of the cage and thrown it away! I know others have mentioned dangerous or unhealthy toys so please be aware and don't leave anything you think may be harmful when your budgies will be alone! Poor little Tyler! He seems ok now but it was awful to see him, I just thank God I was there and on hand to help if necessary although he managed to free himself he was very distressed! I'm not sure what I'll do now because they destroyed the toy from The Natural Bird co. so quickly.....am having a re-think! I do know The Natural Bird co. toys are perfectly safe.

Oh gosh Milliej thank goodness you were there, it could have ended really badly,I hope you are both ok now.
I have 2 little balls filled with paper but I was afraid their claws would get caught so I three them away.

A lucky escape , glad all ok. Maybe worth giving the vendor the heads up on the problem

I agree with steve05412 on that one. It is scary for all concerned when this sort of thing happens.

A lucky escape , glad all ok. Maybe worth giving the vendor the heads up on the problem I agree, just a polite note bringing it to their attention as they probably don't know about it.

Have just read the two customer reviews on that link for that toy milliej, perhaps you could write a review too, not a nasty one, but just pointing out the hazards???

If a polite note didn't spark a response then I would agree. It would be interesting to see if a negative review remained on the website.

I have seen many toys marketed for budgies which are actually better suited to much larger, stronger birds

Thanks for your posts, I'm not sure if it's me, this machine or the website but no luck in managing to leave a review so far! I have noticed my 'Word' programme isn't working properly and I use that a lot I will keep trying though because it is important. I'm very thankful little Tyler wasn't hurt, up to his usual naughtiness today

Well in this instance it was me I have managed to leave a review but not a very positive one so let's see if it shows on the website when it's been 'approved'!

I have seen many toys marketed for budgies which are actually better suited to much larger, stronger birds I've got a few toys that are suitable for Parrots (not budgies) because I got the wrong size, now whether it was me (possibly ) or the website I'm not sure. I think I'll stick to what I know now. Trouble is round here, there are no shops that sell budgie toys so it's on-line or nowt!

Same here, and, like you, I bought toys far too big and had to send them back.

If a polite note didn't spark a response then I would agree. It would be interesting to see if a negative review remained on the website. I have read negative reviews on websites OP, so hopefully they will pass it, not sure if they even read them though! On second thoughts perhaps they do, checking for bad language and the like.

It seems we all struggle a bit with finding toys, all the pet shops around here have abysmal amounts of budgie toys and the only things I have seen in the supermarkets are Trill and sandpaper sheets. I think I see a gap in the market........
