Wireless always has a usb connection. But it's got no wires so it's "tidy" I'll leave the recommendation to OP as I have not used windows for a very long time.

I also have not used Windows for a number of years now. I have used a mouse that connects through Bluetooth and so is slightly different. The main thing is the lead/wire and how comfortable it is in your hand. Try and get one that doesn't use the little rubber ball underneath, you can get the ones that use a red light in place of the ball at a reasonable price. There you have it really. In a nutshell you need a decent lead, it wants to be comfortable and use the light instead of a rubber ball. As with anything, you pay for what you get. If it's cheap it will work cheap and won't last.

Ah thanks, yes my 'old' one has a little red light underneath! I'm now trying to figure out why I replaced it when I did - who knows When I do replace this one, I will definitely get a one that is more like this one if a bit pricey but good! Which leads to another query.....I'm not au fait with different systems either, I've always used Windows since XP and have no idea how to change but perhaps best leave it as it's working again fine now. Last time my old laptop crashed my husband nearly left home with all the problems it caused trying to get it fixed, we ended up getting another one (sadly) with Windows 8 because we couldn't find anyone here that could fix it properly (my husband was mortified as he used to work in IT but no longer has 'the gear' or patience )
