Obviously you have to wash your hands first, that goes without saying when handling any baby.

Thanks all for reolying.
I always wash my hand before handling budgerigars. But now I have another question.
My budgerigars have laid 4 eggs and from that 2 have hatched and 2 haven't. The date of hatching for all the eggs is past last week. So is there any chance of those eggs to be hatched? I have checked it in light those eggs in last weekend but haven't seen any veins or a black spot. But still not sure whether those are fertile or not.
Any suggestions what to do.

Give them ten days, just as a long shot. We had a member a while back who was about to dump some unhatched eggs but decided to give them longer and out hatched one little pinky. A long shot, as I said, but ...... *shrug*. Otherwise, just ditch them!

Hi all,
I have removed rhose eggs now as they donot hatch. But I had a tragic loss yesterday. From the pair of the budgies the female somehow managed to flee away but the chicks are two small to eat by their own. Do you guys have any suggestion to do I can give them which they will eat. I have tried biscuits by making it soft with water but they are not happy to take those. Anyothers suggestions or any more information needed please reply.

You need budgie formula. Can you get this where you are? Biscuits and water is not good enough. There is virtually no nutritional value in either. You have the internet so you will need to research what you can get in the area that you live. It's no good me saying get this/get that when you can't. Next time, get some formula and equipment BEFORE you start your breeding so you can deal with these situations and they don't suddenly become emergencies. You can try warm milk served from a bent spoon, but this still won't be enough long term. Don't just go off and try warm milk, read these first- budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/3287/hand-feeding-budgie-chicks and this budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/231/basic-budgerigar-breeding

Wood shavings are essential in the nestbox to prevent splayed legs on the chicks. It's the same stuff that you'd use for a rabbits hutch.

Without seeing what the formulas are for both I would be hesitant using the second one in your links, the Petslife brand - it says: " Premium nutrition for conures, Amazons, Macaws, African Greys, Eclectus, Indian Ring neck parakeets" Budgies are not mentioned therefore I think it may be formulated for the bigger birds, not budgies.

Yes, even I thought so as budgies are not mentioned there. I have ordered the one from Deli Nature.
