It depends, Sam. Sometimes just one or two. And other times I've had maybe six show up. They like my walnuts, but not the tamarind almonds. Amazing! Stace why do they have tags and leg rings on? Are they not wild? Yes, they are wild birds. That one in the picture will have been tagged so the wildlife people can identify him and study what the wild populations get up to.

They are huge birds. When they spread their wings they take up a lot of space.

They are very friendly. They very gently take the nuts from my hand. I tried them with carrot but they just tossed those over the balcony. Nuts, please, ma'am! Only nuts! Amazing how they keep their feathers so beautiful and white.

They produce a powder to cover their feathers to water-proof themselves, rather than the oil that the budgies use. This seems to help keep their white whiter than white. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Here I go, playing devil's advocate again, stace, but remember that cockies are one of the worst carriers of PBFD (they are the only parrot whose beaks are affected through the disease) in Australia, anyway, and I know the cockies around my area have had it in the past; I do see some rather sorry looking specimens still, so I don't feed them for this very reason. Sorry to be the grinch; it is just the way I am. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

Just to add to that, stace, maybe the council or wildlife authorities, WIRES perhaps(?) ..... would be able to tell you if PBFD is in the Sydney cockies. I think I would want to know. They do look beautifully healthy ........

I have just read a horrible news story of cockatoo smuggling in Indonesia. I won't put a link here as it's too upsetting but you can google if you want the horrific details. If a smuggler was on stace's balcony, all they'd see is dollar signs... ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
