Oh, that's not good. Did the vet give you the option of trying to drain the lump? Sometimes they are full of fluid and can be drained, although I didn't have a good experience with this happening, it is something less invasive for little Bobbie. My thoughts will be with you both all day. Fingers, feathers and wings all crossed.

Hello again all. Thanks for the replies and suggestion about the milk thistle extract. Unfortunately the lipoma has grown alarmingly quickly and is now dragging along the floor when she is on the ground. The vet suggested that the time had come to make a choice about a week ago. As Bobbie is so well in herself generally i have decided to let her have an operation in the hope that she can get through it. I know it is very risky and that the odds aren't great but it is that or the other option and i feel she deserves a chance. Her op is booked in for tomorrow morning and im not looking forward to it. Tidying her out today was hard as im sure you can imagine. Good luck Bobbie. I shall check in tomorrow with news. Tom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both Tom, good luck and hope for positive news this morning xx

Hi all.
I am unbelievably sad to report that Bobbie didn't make it through her operation and passed away at around noon.
She was a feisty and fun and very affectionate little thing and I loved every day of having her around.
Typing this is really hard but our journey started here in this thread and so here is where it should also end.
With regards to draining. Two vets advised that it was a lipoma and very difficult to remove. It turns out that it was a cyst which filled up with fluid so that may have been possible. Sadly we were never given that option.I'm not sure what to make of that at the moment.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice or took an interest and sorry I don't have better news.
RIP Bobbie x
Tom.

Tom, I'm so sorry, you gave this little girl a great life after she found you.
Really sorry the vet gave you the wrong information about her illness though.
Rest in Peace gorgeous Bobbie.

I am so sorry, Tom. Bobbie was lucky to have you in her life. She certainly landed on her feet when you took her in. Rest in peace, Bobbi. You were well-loved and will not be forgotten. xx Don't beat yourself up about the options you were given. You can only work with the information you have on hand, and as I mentioned, having a lump drained is not always a good option, anyway. The cysts tend to refill themselves and it is a fine line between taking enough out and taking too much. In my first budgie's case, I am certain that the vets removed too much, resulting in his body taking necessary fluid from his body to fill it again, leaving his body too short of necessary electrolytes which he never recovered from.

I am so, so sorry things didn't work out for little Bobbie. I too lost a dear budgie during surgery so I know exactly how you are feeling. Its is such a hard decision to make but you must console yourself with the fact that you were trying to do your best for this little girl and you gave her a fantastic life. R.I.P. Fly high little one. Big hugs to you tomb24 x

I'm so sorry to hear this, i remember when you found her. Bobby had a wonderful 4 years with you, take comfort in that, and as others have said, she knew who to land on that day for sure. They creep into our lives and break our hearts but how rich are we to have had them
