Is anyone else experiencing problems whilst on the forum? I am quite often in the middle of typing something, or clicking on a post and my screen freezes, or even completely disappears. If I leave it, it does sometimes come back but sometimes I have to ctrl, alt delete and login to the forum and start again. I think it may even be my broadband connection, not sure.

I haven't had problems, Shirls. Sorry to hear you are; nothing is worse than technology that doesn't work!

I don't see anything on the Proboards help forum about similar issues. Could be that you need to update your browser. Which Operating system do you have (Windows, Linux, Mac..) and which browser? (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera..)

Yes I think so, my daughter usually sorts all that stuff out. I have had the lap top now for about two months and she organised everything when I got it and has recently checked it out for problems.

Thank you Marianne, but I'm not that much of a specialist. I don't think it will be a Proboards problem per sē, rather your own computer, Internet Explorer or Windows. Does this phenomenon only happen when using the forum Shirls?

I thought it was only on the forum OP, as I am on this rather more than anything else, but it happens when I use Tinypics to upload a picture on the forum too. I will have to make a mental note if it happens on any other website. I can't say I've been on much else this past week to recall.

It could be Windows 8? I have that and IE and when I first got it goodness me, what a nightmare it's loaded with stuff, like do we really need all that? Plus you (well I) can't get rid of it, it seems to upset the machine I think google is the best personally but don't like to change to it for aforesaid reasons I'm also watching a new programme on the tele called 'Human'.....I love Sci Fi but this is getting a bit scary Sorry Shirls, no help at all really but sometimes mine runs really slow and then I think, well as at least half of the planet is now on-line.....it will be slow at times!

No milliej, I insisted on Windows 7 as I had heard such bad reports about Windows 8. Very true about half the planet being on-line now!

Ah I wanted Windows 7 and was told I couldn't get it, it wasn't 'available' any more, typical! It's good, my youngest has it and it's fine......some folks are just too clever and want to keep upgrading (changing) things!

At a pinch it sounds like you have too much going on at once, therefore running out of free memory. Do you have any other applications running whilst you are on the internet? I can only do this a bit at a time otherwise I will blind you with science. I'm not casting aspersions at you knowledge of computers, rather I am not very good at conveying in simple terms.

No OP, my computer is virtually empty as I haven't had it for very long, even my old lap-top wasn't used to its full capacity storage wise. I don't have anything else running at the same time. I must say I am not very knowledgeable on the technical side of computers, but my daughter is quite genned up and she helps a lot. So I think I will have to contact the service provider when I am in the mind-set to do so. Thanks for taking the time to consider what may be wrong.

Shirls, computers are my joy, next to the budgies. I love getting in there, up to the armpits in 1's and 0's. Windows is a law unto itself. Many a real service technician has been reduced to a quivering wreck with that Operating system. If I were at the computer I could probably sort it, but from a distance it is difficult. One thing that does spring to mind with Proboards and others is the amount of what are known as trackers that are snooping around to see what ads they can throw at you. There has been on such banner type that has shown up for the past few days with regards to a charity. It even slowed my page loading down a fair bit. Maybe, just maybe.
