Becca I'm afraid that the lut's appear to be all females. Their ceres have a blueish hue to them, which I am afraid tells me that they are girls. A male lut's cere would be pink to purple, but females are blue to white which these are now turning, I'm so sorry Now, the bird that I photographed with the grey one appears to be a boy as his cere is all pink, because he his lutino based, and having read a great deal on this mutation, I think he is a lacewing. His throat patches are pale violet, and his feet are pink. Have a read of this www.cutelittlebirdiesaviary.com/lacewing-budgies.html I know you wanted a lutino male, and initially I thought I had at least one, so would you like to have the lacewing or would you like to wait for the next hatchings to see what comes from that? Again I am so sorry because I know how much you're looking forward to it, and I don't want to disappoint you. I feel so bad, I don't know what else to say.

No one can be disappointed at how a clutch of budgies turn out. Never apologize for pretty babies.

Yes don't apologise! It's not their fault or yours I wanted something a bit different to green as Minty (my previous budgie) was green. Please don't worry

I'm not disappointed about the outcome of the chicks, I'm disappointed because dear Becca had her heart set on a yellow one. I must say that the lacewing is far from being a green budgie in those terms, he has a slight suffusion of green on his belly but this is masked by yellow, and his wings are yellow, but where the edges of the feathers should be black, these are a shimmery silver. An absolutely gorgeous bird and from what I read they are few and far between. The photograph of him doesn't do him any justice. You are more than welcome to come and look at him. Of course there is the next round which is up to 7 eggs now and only a week away from hatching the first. All of the first round are moving into the juvenile flight this weekend to give mum some peace
