I've been meaning to start this thread for ages ... now I'm finally going to do it, wish I had sooner hehe As I'm at home all the time with Puck I get to see all of his first, so thought it would be nice to document them Todays first I put up some perches for him weeks ago attached to our highest bookshelf. I've been putting him on the perches but took him a while to fly to. Today for the first time he flew between the two of them He's been doing laps of the room and flying back to them, very cool

Using the new perches couldn't have come at a better time A couple of days (and since) he had a new first, walking under my desk chair while I was sat in it As a floor budgie I already try to keep an awareness of where he is all the time, but if this continues I'll have to redouble that

Nice Matt. I do love to hear about the life of a budgie Lilek also runs along the floor and under my chair a lot. I have to look before I walk or move anywhere!

Yesterday I wasn't sat in the chair when he went under it so I gave it a slight rattle and he flew off, would never normally intentional scare him but in this case its something he should be scared of! Not sure if I'll continue to do that Part of the reason I didn't start this earlier is cause I struggle to get photos of him. It used to be he'd always land on my phone when I was taking pictures, now its my shoulder , cant complain though its lovely ;D

I wish Lilek would be scared and fly off. He is not scared of anything. He's the only one that I can run after and he will not fly away.
Regardless of what happens he does not fear danger.

For the first time today Puck had a fly around the kitchen, not on purpose I might add He's been flying over to me all day when I'm leaving the room, I tried to call his bluff (as often works) by continuing out the door but today he instead flew down the hall and did a few laps of the kitchen, landing back on my finger when I ran after him ;D

The kitchen is so dangerous. Abbie flew out there today, I had to run after her!

Landed on my head for the first time today. Not sure why its taken so long as he's happy to fly to my lap, shoulder or finger, you'd thing the top of the head would be an easy target! Didn't hang around for long and not had a repeat performance so not sure it was even on purpose The kitchen is so dangerous. Abbie flew out there today, I had to run after her! Yeah, in ours the bars on the stove are the only thing that looks like a perch

When he's on the floor, try picking him up every time he's there and putting him back up on a perch or the table or something. He might get out of the habit after a while. It's worth a try.

Loads of firsts last couple of days as we're back at my parents house. He seems comfortable but not totally settled in. I've certainly enjoyed it though, their house is a lot more budgie safe so when I was the only one in (and hence knew all the house doors were closed) I could walk around different rooms with him on my shoulder Left him with my parents in the evening, he flew over to them and played a bit - I think they now realise why I talk about him all the time lol When he's on the floor, try picking him up every time he's there and putting him back up on a perch or the table or something. He might get out of the habit after a while. It's worth a try. I dont think he'll ever get out of the habbit and I dont mind as long as he isnt near the door or under my chair. I move him away whenever he's there now but we'll see how it goes.

My family switch off when I started talking about my budgies!

Puck has one of the those little cart things with a perch on it, mostly he knocks the perch off then runs around with it in his beak. Yesterday he tried to fly with it in his mouth(did pretty well!), dropping it very noisily on my guitar. I wonder if I'll get a repeat performance of that! I think I have an answer for why he wont land on my head - hair! I've come to this conclusion because when staying at my parents he would land on my dads head all the time and he is sadly bald. Not that I'm fussed about him going on my head, my shoulder is fine, especially now he leave my ears alone! Sweet that you talk about him all the time. Sometimes I wish I had budgie friends to socialise with. My family switch off when I started talking about my budgies! Thats what we're for

Puck is such a gorgeous wee thing. You should be thankful he doesn't like sitting on your head. It's very difficult to get rid of their little "presents" when they plant them in your hair.

I've read about other going mad over broccoli but up until now he'd just had the odd nibble at it - well today he struck! All over the floor, interesting smell. Not been on the forum much, back to work now so not much time for myself on the pc. the little guys still getting (or demanding) his attention though
