Here's hoping they are all good, Nicola. Cleo is doing a sterling job.

She sure is, I'm so proud of her She laid egg number 5 today, as well. I'm hoping she doesn't lay too many more considering she's a first time breeder. Does anyone know how many eggs I should expect considering this is her first time breeding? So far it looks like 2 of the eggs are fertile, either egg 1&2 or 2&3. I'll check more within the next few days

I really don't think it makes much difference for a first timer, Nicola. The number of fertile might be a factor. Anywhere between the four you already have, and 8-9. Hopefully she won't go that far.

No, I attempted too, but Cleo was what you would describe as squawking at me when I tried, so I decided to leave it. Basing off the last candling, we have 2 fertile I'll give it another go tomorrow, see what she thinks then If the first egg is one of the fertile ones, we should expect a chick in about a weeks time, otherwise about 9 days If I succeed in candling anymore I'll let you know how it goes

She is gorgeous, nicola. Reminds me very much of a fluffy version of my Misty. I really hope all goes really well for you all.

She definitely is, so is Misty I really do too, Hezz, but then I have the problem of having to part with the babies if we get more than 2 or 3, because the aviary isn't big enough I might send one over to you

Oh, I think I would be able to help out there ......... a friend in need, of course, I will lend a hand. After all, we couldn't have Cleo's bubs going to unknown homes, now, could we? ? Nudge, nudge. PS Misty is still going strong ...... but I can't find a good photo of him to show how similar he is to Cleo.

I just read over my post! My apologies Hezz! I'm sure you'll find one soon of Mr Misty

Looks like we have 3 fertile eggs I believe them to be the earliest 3 because all the chicks look quite developed in their eggs. Two of the eggs I think are infertile and the other 2 are too early to tell, but 3 is a good number for a first time mum 4 days till the first egg is due to hatch, however I could have got the eggs mixed up knowing me, so I'll settle for an expected arrival next week
