Well, Cleo certainly had a lot of input into those babies, but Romeo??? Romeo, Romeo .... wherefore art thou, Romeo. Are you sure these are your babies, too?? nicola, I think your pieds are dominants .... their markings look too uniform to me for them not to be. What are their chest colourings like? And Jellybean a spangle as well; she is a sweetie. You are a lucky girl.

Indeed she did, Romeo seems to be absent from all except Jellybean I was originally thinking dominant too Hezz, as I thought the same considering the white blocks of colour on Jellybean and Wallaby's heads. However they both have orange beaks, rather than the darker gold colour, which I believe is typically a recessive characteristic??? That's what stumped me a little. Wallaby doesn't have much colour on his chest yet, but Jellybean is mostly white until about 3/4 down on the bottom of his tummy which is the blue/purple colour. Similar to Romeos markings. Wallaby's wings though seem more dominant now I think about it, a recessive wouldn't look like that- silly me I'm a little confused about Jellybean though

I guess as they mature and they lose all the pins into proper feathers you will have more of an idea. I didn't know that about the beaks ..... I am supposing that is when they are babies, still? Jellybean is an enigma ..... if she is a she, that fits with being a girl!

Quick update, Jellybean left the nest for the first time this morning, however when I got home the little munchkin decided the nest was a much better place Hopefully she builds up some bravery soon!

But looking at those sweet little faces....I dont think I would ever be able to part with them either! Even just after a month, I'm too attached to let go now The original 5 would have meant some parting, but I think I'll be able to handle 3 more baby budgie bundles

Is the last photo Jellybean? She looks like a cinnamon in that photo! Yes that is her Its hard to say whether that's a good representation of her colour or not, it could just be the photo. Jellybean "came out" of the nest again, however I'm now thinking she's being pushed out either by the eager chicks or Cleo, because she hasn't flown yet and isn't very balanced on a branch. At any opportunity she goes straight back in the nest. She'll be 5 weeks on Sunday so she's about 32 days now. Is this normal?

Why not add a little hide for Jellybean, and a perch down low, if there isn't already one. If she has somewhere to go into she might feel better, particularly if Cleo is pushing her out. If there is a lowish perch in the cage, she will be able to let you know when she is ready and steady on her perch. Also a bit of seed and millet on the floor of the cage so she can start cracking seed for herself, if she isn't already. Mango wasn't much older when I took her on. She wasn't perching in the first few days but started very soon after, and for the first week I put in a box for her to hide in, particularly at night. Once she was secure and perching for the night she didn't use the box any more, but there were a few days where she would sit on a perch during the day but happy to sleep in the hide.
