Finished this book last night, was hooked from first chapter, first book I've ever read from this author, it won't be the last, don't want to give too much away, but talk about "Marry in haste, repent at leisure" 😱😱

jellybean, I've picked up a new (to me) author called James Oswald, looks like he's from your part of the world. I've only just started, but so far so good. Someone on the back cover has touted him as "the next Ian Rankin"; I like Ian Rankin. Have you heard of him, read any of his?

Can't say I've heard of James Oswald Hezz, will need to look him up. Yes, I've read quite a few of Ian Rankin''s "Inspector Rebus" books, enjoyed them too. I've ust started another Mark Edward's book "In Her Shadow" cant put it down. Did you ever try the Kindle book app ?

No, I didn't. I got a few ebooks through the library when they were shut down. They were better than nothing, but my tablet and laptop don't talk to each other so I couldn't read them on the tablet which was a bit of a pain. The library is back open again now, so I'm a happy reader of real books again.

I've been listening to audio books, I can't seem to concentrate on reading at the moment, the words just swim around on the pages. If I listen to an audio book, it takes my mind away from other thoughts going on in my head and I find I can potter around in the garden etc while I am listening. I'm sure all these titles are available as normal books though too. Ive got through a few since mum passed away and I have been furloughed from work. I get all my books through the Library lending service RB digital but they are all available from Amazon etc
I found You - Lisa Jewel The accusation - Zosia Ward (lots of twists and turns) The skin collector - Jeffery Denver (really gory but a good story) Severed - Simon Kernick (Fantastic, again a bit gory but brilliant) Perfect Kill - Helen Fields (Crime thriller, very good) Perfect Silence - Helen Fields (Good story) 24 hours - Claire Seeber (Flicks between then and now but a good story) The murderers Son - Joy Ellis He will find you - Charlie Gallagher (Maddie Ives detective series, all very good) The Family Upstairs - Lisa Jewell (Really enjoyed this one)
Criky I got through a lot didn't I. They have kept me sane I think! Just about to start Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks

Our library uses Rb digital and another called book-something. Why two, I don't know, but some diff books on the two sites, so maybe it is as simple as that?? I did resort to buying a couple, then the local store started a book exchange while the library was shut and which is still running, so I've made some deposits and withdrawals there as well. I really love that simple give and take. I tend to find a few authors that I like and stick to them until they don't write fast enough, then move on to another few and come back to the others as they get a new one published.

I posted another book by this author in this section a few weeks ago "Here To Stay" I have since read a few more and none of them disappoint. I finished this one today, Hezz, I think you'll like it, just when you think you've worked it out........WRONG

Thanks, JB. Will definitely have a look in the library catalogue. Always good to find a new decent author.

Just to add to the thriller list I loved After Anna by Alex Lake and I've just finished a pre-publication copy of The Choice by S.J.Ford (debut novel) which I thought was very good. I think it's published on the 3rd March.

I thoroughly recommend "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. A great film adaptation was made starring Ben Affleck and the wonderful Rosamund Pike but as usual, the book is even better. Everyone has probably heard of this story but even knowing what it's about, it's a page turner.
