I've spent a fortune on toys, ended up my budgies favourite is a paper clip and a wooden match

I think you will find all budgies vary on this score. Some toys budgies like on this forum and mine don't. I think chewy things are generally liked by all, balsa wood toys and natural wood: apple, willow and that sort of thing. There is a list somewhere on suitable wood for budgies, perhaps you could Google it. Mine like beads and buttons. I have threaded buttons on the sides of the swings, made bead 'spiders' (i.e. beads threaded on leather or paper rope, many legs tied together). Quite a few like the cat-balls, ones with a bell in the middle or not as the case may be.

Squawk likes mirrors and toys with bells attached the best. He's not into shredding toys. He's a very vain boy and likes looking at his reflection

Yes I think the boys tend to like their own reflection more than the girls (remember the story of Narcissus?) Both of mine like their reflections but Tyler moreso than Bonnie the female They like shredding toys as Shirls said but I don't give them very often. My favourite thing I think, is when tiny Tyler does his frantic bobbing at Bonnie and she cuffs him with her beak because she's not in the mood for his affections ahhh
