I have a sick budgie in the house......symptoms, poo is not black and white it is more green/brown and cream center, she had a very crusty brown cere but that has now gone and is a smooth even blue tinge but it is a hen,so don't think it is mite, feet are normal, poo gets stuck every 2 to 3 days so I bath her in Luke warm water ..........there does seem to be a swelling down there, and her breathing is fast and wings are lower than her tail,.........any idea's what it could be, a tumour perhaps?

not sure mate, greeny/brown poo could be liver disease, would explain why her wings are bellow her tail, then again it could be soemthing tottaly different, i'm not very good on diseases, but i hope she'll make a swift recovery for you mate.

i think this is one for barrie..... i hope its curable. Mick has said it all! Hope she picks up, Brian. Has she been nesting? Is there the possibility that she may be egg-bound? (Even if her cere is blue-ish, shrug? ?)

HI Hezz,no she went ill before that, she has been in the house for about a month now, I thought the heat and keeping her bum clean would make her feel better,as Mick and you have said it may be one for Barrie

Hi Brian always follow the golden rule which we call "guestimate" ; because we don't initially know the problem we supply heat , in my case they go into my heated propagator with vents open , they have a shot into the crop of guardian angel followed an hour later by a feed of " exact" rearing food heated to approx 35 c ...................now we can relax and turn our " guestimate" into something more concrete.
It does sound to be a suspect egg bound hen and she needs a shot of calcium directly into her crop followed by warmth.
If not that we need to keep her back end clean , trim any dirty feathers around the vent , after washing the vent apply a smear of vaseline or savlon to the area.
Well done Kyle , the droppings do point to a suspect liver or kidney disease. If the liver is damaged bile is excreted which would produce droppings like your birds Brian, this may only be a bacteria which can be treated with anti biotics.

Thanks for that Barrie, have done most of what you have suggested, I.e.the heat, the bum clean, and the Vaseline, but not the anti biotic's as yet

HI BB, her poo has or is turning black and a little white, she is drinking more and eating a lot, but her wings are still low, her poo is not getting stuck now, so looking a bit better I would say, thanks for asking..........
