Bless him, he becomes a bit of a mummy's boy when he's like this, he want's to come onto my hand more to get some soothing words of sympathy and a chat . Evie has just stated her's now so it's very quiet at the moment, and they aren't venturing out much either.

I've decided that Bailey is much brighter than i give him credit for As he's been a bit low with this moult, on Wednesday when the others were busy gossiping and preening indoors i sneaked a cheeky bit of millet for him on top of Flora's cage, he was well pleased with this offering to himself . Hence every day since, when i open the cage, he's out like a rocket and makes his way to the same spot on top of flora's cage, i didn't cotton on on Thursday when he was standing there for long periods of time but then the penny dropped on Friday He now gets his regular nibble in the same spot every day, just through his moult though and this piece will last for three days but he's getting quicker at devouring it so who knows Clever boy, has me well trained, at last The just haven't cottoned on......YET

Birdies have good memories. One of my chickens has got Tricho. Between vet and myself we decided on tablets as opposed to liquid medication. The tablets are HUGE, so I wondered if I had made the right decision. My daughter suggested wrapping the tablet in cheese. So, every night I have to single the chooks off, one at a time in the run, and they DEVOUR the tablet in the cheese. After the first evening of this, they now wait outside the conservatory for their evening 'snack' of cheese.
They don't seem to worry (or perhaps they wonder??) why they have to be singled off to have this 'treat'. But they are so greedy they would steal each others piece before you know it, so I have to make sure they only get one each. I am sure Dusty had two the first night (but it's her with the Tricho, so that was ok).
Sorry about a bit of a side track here, but just to show Bailey is not the only one with a good memory, spoilt boy!!

BertieB seems to be 'calling' a lot more, if that's what it is. His cage has a drawbridge type door which is open all day. He sits right on the front and calls to me. I check his water and food, offer cuddles, toys and maybe a song or two, a cheeky nibble of millet, but he still calls a lot. He's almost 7 months old, maybe entering sexual maturity and looking for a mate? I just don't know what he wants. I'm wondering whether to give him a mirror Maybe he's like a lot of people and just loves the sound of his own voice

Awww i hope Dusty will be ok Shirls , do they recover quite well from it? Just goes to show how bright these little feathered things are, and how quick they pick up on something good happening. Bailey still stands an wait's for his treat but i'm having to cut him down, not a good habit to much Millet . It had me thinking though, i hope we dont need to but if antibiotics have to be issued to Buds we could pop the drop on a bobble of millet, has anyone tried this?

I have tried that in the past skysmum, a drop of medication on millet and it never worked for me!! Perhaps a different budgie would try it. Yes, Dusty is a lot better now thank you, she had to have an extra week of medication (tablets), yesterday being the last day. She is laying eggs so she must be quite happy. Can't eat her eggs though until 5 days after her last tablet unfortunately!!

I'd not sure how much they would lose on the husks, so for something as easy to handle as a budgie, I'll stick with the snatch and grab method.

Ahhh i'm pleased Dusty is recovering well Shirls , shame about the eggs but as long as she is ok that's the main thing I had a feeling someone had tried it with the meds on millet, like you say Hezz most would be shucked off, IF they would take it in the first place, best with the snatch and grab for sure
