Little update from us. Poor old Bailey had a bit of an eventful day on Saturday, he has been favouring his right foot for around three weeks, ive checked it all over and he has no sores or lumps but the top of it looked puffy and his toes are a little stiff. This is the leg that his leg ring was on, that was free spinning and moving, ive always checked that from time to time and it's always been fine but i started to wonder if it was almost 8 years of the ring moving about and sliding up and own thus tapping the top of the foot constantly. So i decided it was time for the ring to come off, just in case this was contributing. I enlisted the help of OH who had a brand new very sharp set of snips and with me holding OH worked quick and it was over within seconds, two snips and it was off. Bailey was soooo good love him, he was very shouty about the whole thing but didn't attempt to bite once. I always thought the ring was plastic for some reason but it was aluminium, anyway it's a good job done, only time will tell if it's helped at all. He was immediately given a bowl of his fav sweet corn and all was forgiven [/url
A couple of hours later we had a nice chat, if i could put a bubble above Evie it would say, "Im glad i haven't got a leg ring"
Im glad i haven't got one either, im far too busy to get involved The leg ring And just for the Awwwwww factor, my girls

Oh poor boy, but it’s very possible it was causing or contributing. Let’s hope it helps. Glad he tolerated it well.

Aww...they are just beautiful! How is Bailey doing now - does he seem less bothered by his foot since the ring was removed? They look like they’re enjoying their sweetcorn. Love the snuggly photo of Evie and Iris; really beautiful names too. :-)

Poor Bailey having to be grabbed and then losing his bracelet. I'm sure he told the others that it means he's no longer under house arrest

Hoping the leg shows improvement, but just love the photo of Evie and Iris. Lovely to see two totally unrelated hens being besties. They are to be treasured.

Glad it went well and that all is forgiven. It must feed so strange for him after having it for all these years. A bit like when you remove a ring which you normally wear - feels sort of naked somehow

He”ll be 8 in May. I wonder if they do leg rings, like they do those arthritis bracelets for adults....

I hate leg rings, I've always had them removed from my birds. Glad to hear you were such a good boy Bailey. A wonderful picture of the gorgeous girls skysmum 🥰🥰
