Good luck to you and Albert. Hopefully the vet will find the solution to his health issues.

Hi all, thanks for the comments. We have been to the avian vet for a diagnosis. They checked his weight which was ok. They checked a feaces sample under a microscope and saw no signs of bacteria or parasites. No damage to the leg which was causing discomfort. They have diagnosed kidney infection / possible tumour. The vet did say if he was as bad as described over Christmas, then the likelihood was he would have died.
We are therefore hoping its just an infection and not a tumour. He has prescribed a two week course of antibiotics ( Marbocyl 1% @ 0.20 mls per day)
Has anyone had any experience of this?
Although Albert has picked up a bit, he is very stressed and very much under the weather.
We are going back to the vets this Saturday for a quick check up!
Gary

I have had this Gary where it appeared to be a growth pressing on a nerve , the bird adapted and lived a happy life .
The anti Bs should help sort him out

Definitely hoping Albert has a simple infection and not a tumour, Gary. Hope he picks up once the Ab's start to work and the vet gives him the thumbs up on Saturday.

Albert has been back to the vet today. Generally he has picked up. He was weighed again and has put on 3grams, he now weighs 45 grams. Vet said he should weigh round about 50grams for his breed and size.
Got to keep with the anti bis for two weeks and take him back after for re assessment.

Hi all, just wanted to let you all know that tonight Albert passed away. We was there with him and he passed in the loving hands of my wife's. He will be sadly missed, thanks for your supporting comments. Gary x

Rest in Peace, sweet little Albert. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. So sorry, Gary. They leave us much too soon.

They sure do leave us much too soon. My wife and I are in absolute bits. If a little budgie can bring this much joy, love and sadness then we know he was truly loved. He will remain in our hearts! God bless little Albert x
