So hopefully I'm in the right place! I'm having difficulty persuading my OH that 'we' need new cages for the budgies - I can see his point as we have three at present but.......having learned quite a bit from being on this forum and as this cage seems to suit can I ask a question and apologise for being a pest? The feeders are 'swivel' which I've not heard of before, how are they filled and more importantly cleaned if they don't loosen from the cage itself? Thanks. www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/ferplast/14361?source=aw

The whole thing swivels milliej and you just lift the feeders out, the domed outer casing you can lock in place to stop escapes while you are doing whatever with the feeding dishes, its easy .

Well I never did! OH says Ferplas Canto is too small and has asked for a 'link' to study the Hamberley flight cage which he says doesn't look as if it's for birds but a good size I printed a copy but not detailed enough! So I shall leave him to mull it over for now! Oh hum still he's on board with it that's a good start!

I keep wavering too milliej. One minute I want the Canto, the next the Hamberley. I'm also still deciding whether to get another bird, but want a tame one to help Squawks confidence. If I keep Squawk as a lone bird then I shall buy the Canto. If I do get him a friend then it's the Hamberley. It's getting another bird that is presenting the dilemma for me. My daughter thinks I should stick with just Squawk, but I think he deserves a companion.

I think my cages bar spacing is 1cm.

Jane I think that cage you gave a link for is too tall and not wide enough personally. I've got cages that are taller more than they are wide and that's one reason I'm thinking of changing because the budgies need more flying space as my birds are not free flyers, they're caged all the time from necessity. Sid was quite good at imitating a helicopter but Tyler (particularly) and Bonnie like to fly more horizontally between the cages. (like 'normal' budgies)!

I agree milliej. The Hamberley remains the front runner. I did like the white colour of the other one though, that was the main thing that swayed me. What are you doing? Are you getting the Hamberley?

I have to agree with Jean, Jane. That cage I don't like at all; wouldn't be too bad if you could lie it on its side! The bar spacing is definitely on the wide side, I wouldn't go any wider than 12mm.

Still undecided! I have found one I think fits the bill but the price I would have gone for the Hamberley as it's a good price but I'm thinking of myself as well as the budgies and cleaning it. Knowing me I'd probably take the tray out and the budgies would see this big gap if I can't get the wire cage bottom in quick enough 'Cry Freedom' and be off! I don't think I could stand the stress Now to convince the OH which is an altogether different story www.cagesworld.co.uk/p/Imac_Tasha_Chrome_Bird_Cage.htmThe measurements, it's bigger than it looks in the picture

milliej, do them individually, I take out the wire grill with the paper on top and remove the top layer of paper when it gets soiled which leaves the tray in place. Push the grill back in then take out the bottom tray and clean it when needed, that way there is no gap for the birds to escape. Honestly it's a brilliant cage your birdies would love it.
