i have been searching for my perfect violet budgie for a while now and have now considered putting a pair together to create a violet but which colours are needed to get a violet chick, if all else fails i would pay for one if someone has one i would also like a mauve if at all possible?

Violet factor is a color adding factor and true violet only shows up on cobalt budgies.

Dan if you can find birds that carry violet somewhere on the body you stand a chance of making a violet. I paired my old birds Mikko, a opaline recessive pied sky blue who had cobalt and violet on his body in small splotches, and molly my opaline YF cobalt hen, who also had purple suffusions. I got two violets out of the pairing one went cobalt with a violet sheen on her back and the other has stayed striking violet;

Pair a violet to a Dark Factor bird and you do stand a chance of finding a violet in there, might not be this batch but let them go again after and you may find one!
