I have decided that it might be an idea to try and hand tame Blueboy.

He is so very nervous and keeps making nervous peeping noises that I thought this might help him.

Any tips?

Would putting Lilek in with him while I do this help him? - Lilek is very tame and not at all scared of hands (feet, or anything else!)

iv'e noticed with my lot they seem to react from the others in the group, so i think keeping him and lilek together is a good idea

. Maybe try millet as a bribe, or his favorite veggie treat. Always works with mine, but it may take a while if he's nervous

Could you spend some time with only Lilek and Blueboy out together while you play/ feed with Lilek? Is Dumpling his favourite? Even moving them into another room away from the rowdy ones while you do it. I find moving them out of sight helps quite a bit. I think moving them out of hearing range would be even better, but I doubt anyone has a house that big!

You know the drill - talking quietly to him all the while, offering his favourite foods etc.

I think you are in for an uphill battle, Marianne. You are going to have to have heaps of patience, but I sincerely hope you manage to win his trust. Does he seem nervous of the other birds or mostly humans? Keep us updated with your progress, and good luck!

I was wondering how you get all your birds back in thier cages at the end of the day Marianne, especially with nervous/ less tame birds like Blueboy? My little budgie, Buddy is taming slowly, but Im worried he will not want to go back in his cage if I let him out further along the line and dont want to stress him out trying to catch him.

Mine are all used to their routine and I can get them in in 30 seconds in the evening. Took practice though!

If you can get your budgie to step up on a stick then that is half the battle. I'd work on that first if you can't.

Sorry should have mentioned that stepping up is how I get "most" of my budgies in. With the exception of Hector and Sky.

I get Hector in by putting Abbie in - he follows her. I get Sky in by putting Lilek in!
