I bought this perch yesterday, but suddenly watching Bud play with it realised how big the rings on the ends were... The are 3.5cm in diameter. Are these too big, and dangerous, or are they big enough not to be a danger?

Had the idea of emailing Karen from The Natural Bird Co. Jolly good thing I did! That ring size would usually be used for Macaws!!! She's kindly offered to play around and see if she can come up with any safe ways to alter the toy I could do.. but needless to say unless that happens it's not going back in.

Well done realising before anything happened. They do look like a budgie could get caught in them.

I actually saw him poke his head through a couple of times and thought " if the angle changes, he'll be trapped!" that's what made me take it out.

You could always cut the ring and replace it with something like a leather strip, paper- or sisal-rope.

I think we'd need bolt cutters for these rings... Luckily, Karen, as always, has been excellent. She's offered that if we send her the perch she'll get someone to cut the rings off for us and replace them with leather, so I'm out to buy bubble wrap and a padded envelope to send it off today.
