My KIndle Fire tablet uses its own proprietary browser - Silk. Silk is now refusing to connect to this proboards forum:(
I am having to check the forum on my smartphone but it is troublesome to my fading eyesight. My husband thought he had sorted it earlier but he had bookmarked the wrong forum.
Suddenly (today) Silk and Proboards seem to be incompatible - don't know why!

I don't know if you have been to the Amazon help pages or not, but if you haven't then it might be worth having a look at it. I can't paste a link because it is on a secure page AKA https.

I have not heard of silk. Can you check the amazon help pages like OP said? If you cannot find anything I'll post on the proboards help forum to see if they can help.

Thanks Marianne for contacting Proboards.
Our wireless is through a B.T. Hub 3 router. Message is - You are seeing this page because you are are using a BT service which requires the use of BT DNS servers and it appears you are attempting to connect using a DNS server outside our network.
Operating system is Fire OS 4.5.5.2 installed Sept 2016.
I am so fed up of not being able get into the forum (SINCE YESTERDAY) on my Kindle Fire HDX7 that I resurrected my old tablet (a Nexus 7 from 2012) and it is behaving like a proper gentleman so I will go back to using that meantime:)
Never did like the Kindle HDX7 :-)

Thanks lots for the board members suggestion too. I have rebooted the darn Kindle so often the past two days and it is not being helpful to me at all! Think I will get rid of it and get a new tablet - maybe different router too

Yes - have tried that lots of times OP I don't have the issue with my Nexus 7 (on Android version 5) - that is why I think I will use it from now on. I feel the issue is between the Silk browser and our British Telecom Router.

Sorry I thought I had found something. There are lots of complaints/queries about the exact same fault that you are having. Does the Nexus 7 use the Amazon DNS servers. It appears that is where the problem lays. Which ever DNS server is giving out the ip address for proboards is giving an old ip address out. The BT router should be OK. I use a BT router albeit a version 4 but I have no problem with it.

Thanks OP - you are being helpful. The Nexus (a Google product) has no connection with Amazon at all which is why I have reverted to using it. A few minutes ago (after long searches, etc) I managed to stumble on a long thread on a BT forum which is the exact thing I was describing ! It is a problem with the Silk Browser and Amazon know about it and are apparently lagging in sorting it out properly. Temporary fixes are around but only last a day or so. I will try and find the thread again and post it here, if that is in order, in case it is useful to someone else. Back shortly

You are welcome lupin. I like to keep my hand in. I had a feeling that Amazon were at the back of it. They're too busy building airship warehouses to worry about whether stuff works or not.
