We were in the sticks, OP; it was our life-line. As far as I know, the old mobiles worked, sort of. But no one wants them now.

I remember our first home phone, i was 14. It was the old dial round one, fantastic it was until my Dad put a lock on it with a key that we had to ask him for and a money box next to it to pay for our calls. We still had to go up the phone box when he wasn't around happy days

While I hate to break up the phone conversation, and bring the thread back to Crackers .... when his owner came to pick him up, I chatted to (at??) him regarding the cage Crackers was in ..... hopefully he will be getting him a new one ... the poor boy deserves a decent cage for his visits. Too tall, too small, some rust etc, etc

Are you sure Crackers will be coming back to you then?

Crackers may well appreciate it, but what about the owner? That's what I was thinking, after all he's only had him 30 odd years.

Is it not Jack (in the video) OP who is 33 years old. Don't think Crackers age has been mentioned, unless I've missed it.

It was so embarrassing if a boy rang and you had to stand in the lounge with everyone listening. Our phone was fixed to the wall. Save

Don't think Crackers age has been mentioned, unless I've missed it. Crackers is 20 or 22 years old, as I remember, OP, jellybean, and no, I hadn't mentioned his age. Usually he is foot-loose and fancy free and doesn't live in a cage, only when he needs to be housed off-site, so to speak. O.M.G!! Hezz, you can't possibly be that old to have had a phone like the one in your link! And, look at the price of it now!! Shirls, we certainly did have a phone like that!!! I remember going through a country museum as a teenager and on the wall was a phone in much worse condition than the one we had, and were still using!!! It was really funny; the staff didn't believe it, and of course we couldn't prove it, but I swear that phone is still on the wall of the house I grew up in. I just would not inform the greedy family member that it might now be worth a bit of money!

SaveHmmmm, nothing like the privacy that the generations below us, with their mobiles, should appreciate!! Every phone call was listened into, by everyone who was home at the time!!!!

The penny has dropped Hezz, you were talking about the travel cage for Crackers.
