Thanks for pointing that out! I know the huts aren't ideal, but I'm looking for something to keep her warm (my house tends to get very cold during the winter despite our best efforts). Do you have any suggestions as to what I can use? She has a cuddle heater near the hut, but doesn't really use it. Would adding more blankets around the cage exterior help? I think that budgies can cope with the cold during winter, they may be small but they are well insulated. Usually it's draughts that can affect them as their systems don't like the sudden change in temperature. Thanks for your addition to this. I think I'm probably just going to provide some extra warmth with blankets and towels surrounding the cage. I'll definitely make sure she stays away from any sort of door or window that could let a rush of cold air in.

If you have a heater near her cage and blankets around the other sides to help keep the warmth in, I think she would be fine. As stevex has said, they can stand rather low temperatures. They are a desert bird where night time temps can be very low.
