I totally get it. My only concern is not to make my current budgie more aggresive or depressive. It is also another risk but not like any disease.

As long as your current budgie is allowed to fly, but not into the room where your new budgie will be then there should be no problem. I understand what you say in that you feel to be restricting your current budgie. It will probably the best option in the end. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

As the new cage for your older bird is smaller, you will still be able to let her out to fly, just NOT into where the new budgie is. Keep them totally separate. Once the quarantine period is over, then you move the two cages into the same room, close together, allow them to get used to the other's presence, and then only allow contact under supervision, initially. Leave them together for longer and longer periods of time; if no fights occur then, and only then put both into the larger cage, but again you must watch carefully to make sure that neither bird bullies the other.
