I can just imagine the scene, Hubby parks the bike. Hezz: "Hello dear, I hope you had a nice time, where's the camera please?".

How disappointing I was treating that with the ignore it deserved. No self-respecting Australian would have Marmite in their cupboard, let alone on their crackers.

Was discussing vegemite with partner and his comment was (not mine) "we all know vegemite is like marmite but without a taste" Not very diplomatic these rugby types are they?

"Without a taste" What planet is he from?? Anyway enough of the vegemite/marmite debate. Who can out-screech a cockatoo? A Sunnie, that's who. Who starts screeching before the dog is even aware that I am turning into the driveway? Mr Loki. I have joined a conure self-help on FB and gotten some tips on what is normal, how to keep him entertained, general info from people who have these darling noisy little critters.

Slightly off topic, but when the kids were young we had a guinea pig. It was kept in a utch outside the house. This was before we had our own transport. This little guinea pig would start squeaking because it knew my wife was going to walk round the corner at the bottom of the street. She was completely out of view. How did it know. Just like Loki.

I love vegemite and marmite but I can't eat them because they make my arms itch!

Just like Loki ..... that's actually more amazing, OP. A person walking doesn't give off the same noise as a car turning the corner, so the guinea pig must have been picking up her scent, do you think? How far away was the corner?? Loki is more in tune than the dog is, I swear. My worry was that he was screeching all the time I was out, but I am assured that no, he starts when he knows it is my car coming up the street.

Maybe the guinea pig could tell the time? My first two budgies were Monty and Eric. At 9.30pm every night Eric would leap on to his swing to indicate that it was bed time.

As soon as it started to get dark, Sparky was sitting on his swing.
