Mr Hibs took a massive detour to brush my head earlier today and this was not an isolated instance. The light contact is deliberate and is some kind of social or communication device, in my opinion. I especially like the idea that it's a request for me to join in and fly after him/her.

Well that is what mine do with eachother, they will land next to their friend then fly off expecting them to follow. And I’ve also seen them do the exact same thing with items of furniture. Seriously, in a flock of four (five) or 11, you are not that important but read it whatever way makes you feel good.

😁
My chocobo clearly thinks I'm very important but that's probably because neither of us is a budgie 😀
Mr Hibs deliberately seeks me out. We have one-to-one time, usually initiated by him, at least a couple times a day. He thinks I'm nearly as important as Squeak is 😂

Hector certainly thought I was important He would spend all day with me despite having 8 other friends to play with, and he wasn't even tame when he came to us. And I’ve also seen them do the exact same thing with items of furniture. Seriously, in a flock of four (five) or 11, you are not that important but read it whatever way makes you feel good.

Any way Hezz, stop trying to spoil our dreams I do disagree though, some birds do prefer humans and they definitely do try and communicate that they want us to join in with them. We are part of their flock are we not?

It's the same with my two, they have each other, but, as soon as I sit down on the chair next to the cage Sam flies over wanting to sit with me.

In fact, in terms of attention paid, I am shading out Squeak today with regard to receiving Hibs' affection. It's been difficult getting anything done this morning. I'm not complaining but let's see how things go this afternoon

We are part of their flock are we not? We will have to agree to disagree on that one - whether some birds prefer humans to others of their own kind. Ones who have been hand raised on their own, yes I’d agree with that then as humans are all they have known, but give them time with their own and they lose that to a large extent, using Bailey as an example.

Hezz, we'll agree to differ then. Why do you think Hector decided to be friends with me even though he had never been human friendly before? He was 2 when he came here and about 4 when he decided to suddenly start landing on us and then sitting on my hand all day long bashing my thumb.

Mr Hibs has been prioritising interaction with me for the past couple of days. He actively seeks me out if I'm in the room and literally demands my attention. There's no food or bribery involved - Hibs just wants one-to-one time. I suspect part of this is due to Squeak being less tolerant of Hibs' over-exuberant affection. Mind you, Hibs has always been "my boy", which used to annoy the ex-GF as he was her budgie initially!
Veering off-topic, today I sat patiently with a spray of millet in each hand - it wasn't long before I was the subject of avian interest. Squeak was first, landing on my hand with no hesitation. Hibs followed and then Chocobo, who landed on my arm but was put off by the number of budgies milling around. Eeyore and Patch made several fly-overs but couldn't pull the trigger on a landing. I think Patch would have landed but Eeyore the Obsessive was in the way, every time.
