Weirdly, Alexa now says she can’t find certain songs in my music library. I have always set my alarm on her to wake me up to Romeo and Juliet and suddenly it no longer can. But I’ve now tried, wake me up to Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits, and it works, so just in case anyone encounters similar, it clearly needs the artist too

I got a smart plug for my bedroom lamp. Now I can say "Alexa, turn bedroom lamp off" at night. A thought occurred to me - is the next generation of children gong to be raised without "please" and "thank you" since these devices don't need it? Will children get accustomed to barking out orders? Shudder! Anyway, I'm now saying "please" to Alexa for my sake.

Sadly I think all these things don’t help with teaching manners. My 2 year old great nephew, went into the play room, yelled out google, play baby shark.
So much requires little thinking/doing for kids now

I am waiting for the day when Eve shouts out Alexa, either that or tells off the budgies.

At this early age, children are like little sponges, absorbing everything they see and hear going on around them! Hummm, will Eve talk to Alexa or the budgies first - we're waiting to hear!

Or, Alexa tell the budgies to be quiet

With my two boys one has to turn them off before I can talk to alexa. She can't hear what I say if I don't. I quite often say please and thank you to her/it.

Well that day has come. Eve says Stop it Henny (Penny), when Penny bites the bars. Yesterday she told Iris off too. I am waiting for the day when Eve shouts out Alexa, either that or tells off the budgies. ... Or tells Alexa to turn off the budgies. Sorry, ffiscool; I didn't see your post.

To continue this old thread, the echo dot is only £17 at the moment A number of years ago when he still lived at home, my eldest son had a dot as a Christmas gift from his employers. Don’t ask me how as I’m a technophobe but son number 2 was able to hack into it and make it play Aqua’s “I’m a Barbie Girl” and other such tunes. The mirth it caused!! How we kept a straight face when he emerged from his bedroom each time I don’t know especially as we’d be crying with laughter a moment before. We’re such rotters but it was great fun to hear him telling Alexa to stop playing and shut up, only for something else annoying to start playing. Nice to hear Eve keeps everyone, budgies included, in order.

ariella, you can make Alexa play with the app, you don't need to ask it to play things, so I guess that is what your son did
