Little tinker pinching your treat, well part of it anyway . Look at him holding his walnut, that's adorable

Since he doesn’t like walnuts, supposedly, I was cracking some open for myself. Mr (Sticky) Beak had to come along to find out what was going on .... I use my rolling pin to smack them, same as I do to crack his almonds ... and that is when he took off with the walnut shell. I don’t think there was even any nut inside. samwiseg, little beggar eats better than we do. I can’t afford to feed us nuts all the time. His stock of food in the pantry is almost needing it’s own shelf!!! criswell, he’ Hollowing it out from the inside, so that is one very busy beak at work inside there. 😀. I am guessing it is a natural instinct, but there is so little information available about their natural behaviour. Luckily they breed fairly easily in captivity, otherwise it sounds like they would already be extinct. ☹️ The tube used to be about a foot higher than it is now ... luckily I can get them from work, he is loving it!!

Hezz, I had to read that line twice, I thought you were using your rolling pin to scare Loki away from your nuts! (memo to self - I must ensure I'm properly awake before reading the forum)

Latest trick - break the cable ties on the side door of the little boys' cage. Why? So that he can open it when he is out and their door is shut, to steal all their yummy seed! I sprung him in the process of illegal entry yesterday basically with one leg over the window sill. He has some of their seed in his mix, but theirs must have some other secret properties that I don't know about.

Could you use a couple of steel quick links the thick ones?

You have to be a few steps in front with that one. Keeping you on your toes that’s for sure.

He is so clever and such a rascal. Maybe stolen seed just tastes better because of the extra fun in getting it.

I think he sets himself a challenge each day ...... "Today, your challenge, should you chose to accept it, is ........ hmmm what can I think up today??" OP, I might have to try something like that, should work if I put the join on the inside. I have plenty as I don't generally use them, not for the budgies, anyway.
