Hello. Charlie is 6 weeks 1 day, not being fed by mum or dad, yesterday Charlie hardly ate at all, is very quiet, although he/she is flying around, I have managed to spoon feed a small amount of egg food this morning and keeping him warm, am I doing the right thing, is there anything else I should do. Please help.

I often get 6 week old chicks that will not feed, if i crop feed them hand rearing food they still refuse to wean , offer soaked millet sprays and guardian angel in the water

I don't know much about hand rearing chicks, but I think the hand rearing food most use is called KayTees, or something like that.

Oh Marianne, thank you for asking, Charlie is fine, only been eating millet so far, were as Cheeky is eating everything in sight lol, but yes they are doing fantastic, both are flying now, although Charlie is a lot more confident than Cheeky, Charlie has even managed to perch in the tree, which is something I thought he/she may not be able to do due to the disability, how wrong was I, they are getting bigger and bolder everyday.

Bizzly that is brilliant news. Will we get some updated photos soon? I bet they have changed a lot since the last ones. Glad that they both have healthy appetites I'm sure it's fine that Charlie only eats millet at this stage, you can always try him/her with other stuff later on

That's great then, Bizzly. Hopefully Charlie will see Cheeky filling up on all sorts of things and soon want to try for himself. I don't know what you can do if he doesn't. But usually once one starts the others want to follow on, I think just so they don't miss out on anything good. lol.

Charlie is doing great, in fact they both are, eating more and more, flying everywhere, and what I'm most happy about is Charlie can perch in the tree, something I never thought would happen due to his/her legs, so all is really great.
