Hi to you all I've had this budgie for 3 weeks now, bought from a pet shop. He had no tail feathers when I bought him but they're slowly coming through. He lost all of his wing flight feathers on both sides the first few days after i bought him I'm hoping he grows new one's soon. I'm saying a 'he' but now and again, in different light I'm not too sure if he is a she. He's settled in nicely and has started to step up onto my finger. I've read lots of posts on here since I joined 3 weeks ago and learnt loads I've changed his seed over to Haith's I've given him cooked egg, wouldn't touch it so I bought dried and just sprinkle a bit on top of his seed.

What a beauty. I can see your dilemma whether boy or girl. I can’t tell from the photo but I’m sure someone on here can answer for you.

I’m glad it’s not just me Jane that can’t tell 😂 He is lovely, but looks like a little duck without his feathers just now skysmum has one called Bumble that had us flummoxed as to the gender. She ended up contacting the budgerigar society who confirmed that he was indeed a boy. He is a yellow and blue colour.

I've just looked through the thread about Bumble, I see what you mean now JaneI've taken another pic with the light behind me with the cage in the doorway but to me it exaggerates the white around his nares, what do you think now?

Sometimes it’s really obvious whether a budgie is male or female but I’m just not sure with this bud. If I had to stick my neck out I would say female but I am interested in what others (with a lot more experience than me) think. Any idea Marianne Marlow? OP?

How tricky.. I am going to guess at boy.
I'm not sure of the mutation of this bird.

I was going to guess boy too, but I'm not so good at genders when they are still young, I usually get it wrong.
Lovely budgie - welcome to you both.
Mine won't eat cooked egg, they only have the dried stuff; bizarre isn't it.

It is a guess at sexing when they are young and certain mutations. However for me I see not just the cere and nares, but the shape of the head. The body structure all point to a male for me. I still could be wrong though.
