FOUND IN SW19- NEAR COLLIERS WOOD STATION
FOUND AT WANDLE NATURE PARK - BUDGIE GREEN AND YELLOWI found a budgie today at approx. 12pm. It was being chased by two magpies and I was so concerned. It then flew to a car and hung on its window. It luckily fell to the floor and I covered it with a blanket and caught it... phew! I sadly cannot keep this budgie, I have a 9 month baby at home and I am hoping to be working full time this year... me and hubby need our own space. I cannot keep this budgie for long either as I am living with my mother and she does not want a budgie in the house (I do not know where I get my love of animals from!) . Me and Hubby will try and persuade her to see if we can keep it for a couple of days but at the moment it's max. today and tomorrow. I really hope the owner can find it. I also want to know if its a male or female- I feel like it's a female but have no idea. I've only had two male budgies and I know the cere are blue for males. Also, does this budgie suffer from scaly face or some sort of mites? If so, what can I do to help? When Hubby comes home from work, I'll see if we can get it to my Avian vets, they were amazing! The budgie has scoffed down the Trill seeds that I bought. It was not phased by me putting in toys and perches into the cage whilst it was eating. I really would love to keep him but I can't, I have too much on my mind and in my life at the moment, I would not be able to give him a good life. My own budgies were like royals in my family, they had the whole house to themselves and I cannot do that. My son could easily hurt this budgie as now he's learning to grab things. These accidents have happened in the past and if it happened in my home, I would never forgive myself- plus my mother isn't keen on it even though we have had budgies for 8 years! I feel blessed to have helped this budgie. Please help me find it's owner or help me find a place that we can take it to so it is safe like a rescue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, is anyone willing to take it in temporarily for me? Hubby drives so I am sure we could drive close by or half way. Please do help if you can, I cannot comprehend how grateful we would be. I've uploaded photos below. That's where I spotted him after he flew away from the magpies. I am so glad he's safe now!

I think that's better! I can take more photos if anyone would like but at the moment I have left him somewhere quiet to rest.

I am wondering if someone let this bird go because it's sick.

I am wondering if someone let this bird go because it's sick. That's what my brother said- he said if we do find the owner, he wants to have a good chat with the person as they have been irresponsible and perhaps do not deserve to keep a budgie. My brother was obviously emotional, we loved our budgies so much so it obviously hurts him to see a budgie this way. I could come and get the medication from you but not sure when I can come. I could also go vets but I doubt they would have any appointments today.

Health wise, other than the scaly face how does the budgie seem?

If you have some vaseline, you can put a little tiny dab on the beak in the meantime, making sure you don't get any in the budgies nares (nostrils)

Health wise, other than the scaly face how does the budgie seem? Budgie appears to be okay. It will obviously be out of it's comfort zone but it's doing really well. I think it's a male as where the scaly face has not gotten part of that area of the cere, it looks blue but I am sure a vet can confirm this. I doubt I will be able to go to the vets today. Getting on the bus with a pushchair and a budgie will be quite tough alone so hubby has to take me and I think he'll be home later than I once thought. Budgie is eating well, haven't seen any drinking but that's normal and he/she has eaten lots of millet seeds! I haven't given any fresh food such as spinach or carrots as I am worried it could make her sick. Her poos are quite wet at the moment but that could be due to nerves. I might attempt with the vaseline later on but for now I will leave the budgie just to give it some rest and peace. Half the cage is covered and the room is silent. We have no idea what the poor thing has been through but one thing is for sure, it was starving and it was chased by two other birds.

Poor little mite. I hope he recovers and someone can rehome him.

Do you have a RSPCA rehoming centre near you? If so they may be able to take the budgie until they find him a new home.
He's been through a lot bless him. Hope he gets a happy ending.
