I'd love to have a section on here with Vets > Regions > Locations > Surgeries and Be able to comment on that Vet.
Contact details and a review on the service you received. Obviously would have to be vetted excuse the pun for general slander if someone's been upset but overall I think a review system would work brilliantly.
Would help greatly in aiding members finding a good avian vet, as they are all so hard to come by!
Soph.

I think people can say if they have a good vet, but not if they have a bad one. Negative comments about vets could lead to legal action.
Great to be able to say, this or that vet is great with birds though.

I am not sure about the review part as I do not want to invite bad feedback for people. Sometimes they just don't have a good experience and it's a one-off. I am all for promoting the positive experiences though. How do you want it to work Soph? - A new board. Named? With a thread for each region or what? Ideas please

I am all for promoting the positive experiences though. How do you want it to work Soph? - A new board. Named? With a thread for each region or what? Ideas please I can understand the one offs, but thats what makes it beautiful, multi experiences can be listed and like ebay feedback, you see a seller with 100 positives and one negative and yeah, you can think, that's a one off, whereby if you look at another with 40 positives, 20 neutrals and 15 negatives, you think perhaps there's more to it than a one off, if you get me. Yeah, like a sub section perhaps at the bottom by the links. Avian Veterinary Surgeries > Regions (ie wales, west midlands, east anglia etc) then within those sections there would be counties or towns ( so ie in Midlands, my manor vet branches are in multiple places, like Haelsowen, Edgbaston etc and would have that section to make it easier for people to find vets in their area) and we could perhaps link to their web, and have the reviews in that undersection there so people can decide if that is the place they wish to take their pet. I understand the review side of it would have to be VERY heavily monitored hence suggesting vetting the posts before they go up. You can say you've had a bad experience somewhere but as long as you don't go slating them left right and centre legally it's all fine. You can always say "that chip shop sometimes makes quite greasy batter" and you're just stating something factual, whereby if you worded it differently and said "Their batter is RUBBISH, it was disgusting, licking kitty litter is nicer than eating thier batter..!" etc would obviously be slanderous. It's all about wording and I think it could be a vital aid to have such an informative section. IE; I had an experience with a vet that I would consider "bad" (i was furious BUT i wouldn't slate them in a review) I would likely comment that (all items in quoted italic is what I would place into a sample review) "While I read that the vet catered to exotics I felt they were more suited to domestic pets at this surgery and were unable to offer me the service I needed at the time for my animal patient."Another vet here, helped me greatly after the prior vet had "messed up" and I would likely say about this 2nd surgery that; "Even though this surgery was unable to offer me or my pet exotics treatment they went out of their way to aid me in finding an appropriate surgery in the local vicinity that could cater for my animal's requirement."and example three, the last vet; "Was clean, spacious and helpful, quickly seeing the animal in question and promptly delivering a diagnosis and adequate treatment."
So by carefully selecting how things are worded and viewing all review posts before they go up, it could be a fabulous addition and very informative. I know I would dearly love to know a bit about a surgery before I take my pet there. Perhaps adding star ratings too, these mean you can get an idea on the vet WITHOUT even saying a word if you wish. Nor can anybody have the finger pointed at them over "stars" if you felt the vet only deserved one. Anonymous posts would be good, admin would know who submitted them but to the forum viewer, all quoted text and star ratings are anonymous. Regards, Soph.

Bonesy, did I ever tell you about my short attention span?.. I'll have to read through this properly when I have more time and see what I can come up with. I do like the idea but it needs a proper sit and think before I implement. Feel free to contribute more ideas on this thread in the mean time..

Lol, no worries. I've got a fairly reasonable legally good know-how so I could always vet any contributions to take some load off you guys if you wanted. With my training site I've had to know how to say something wasn't desirable without just plain out slating it directly so I can edit anything I think might cause issues legally. As much a *I* think you should be able to say something is rubbish and you wouldn't use it again, you have to put all the bells and whistles on it before you can suggest that these days, lol! I know that we can't in todays world though. But, yeah, hopefully it can be a fabulous addition. Soph.

Rather than running the risk of someone saying the wrong thing and us being faced with what happened with the old forum, how about a different slant on things. Something along the lines of: Member: Marianne Marlow Vet: Susan Squirrel Location: Smart St Nth London Visits: 4 Marianne Marlow Vet: John Turnip Location: Stupid St E London Visits:1 Marianne Marlow Vet: Birds R Us Locaction: Excellent St Mid West Visits: 26 Hezz Vet: Aero Vet Clinic Location: Pasta St, Cairns Visits: 5 etc. If people want a review of a particular clinic, vet they could PM the member who has put the vet's name up. That way any communication is on a personal level and not out for general consumption. I personally won't be contributing for the simple fact that they is no-one on here anywhere near me.

It could work, also a simple star system could work. If everyone really thought the risk of verbal slander was too great perhaps positive or neutral quotes for that string of vets would be more sufficient. Ie Anon 1; "Presentable, tidy surgery, quickly seen and good professional advice. 4.5 stars" rather than a full review. I don't know what happened at the old forum nobody really told me by the way.

I did consider adding a star rating, but it didn't fit nicely on my page, lol!

Whoops, sorry for not replying on this in so long Bonesy.
I have been thinking about the vets section idea and I feel that we should only mention good experiences.
