I have found a recipe for making your own organic, with the mother, Apple Cider Vinegar, so I am going to give it a go. I will report back. Has anyone on here made their own? As I may need some advice!!

I buy mine Shirls. Look forward to seeing your recipe. I usually buy mine too jellybean, Braggs, but I have recently had a bad experience with the ACV I use for the chickens, which is also supposed to be non-pasturised, organic etc., so I thought I would bite the bullet and make my own. It doesn't look that difficult. The initial lay out is the cost to start with, i.e. large bucket, ingredients, large glass bottle/s. Then you will always have a base culture to produce more. Apparently if stored in plastic it causes a reaction which is what happened to my chooks vinegar - the producers obviously didn't know this!!! However, that's a different story.

That's interesting, because I think the bottle I have now is plastic. The first one was glass .... might have to look into that. Thank you, Shirls.

It only takes a few weeks samwiseg, depending on the temperature and where you keep it of course. But roughly, say 4 -5 weeks. If you keep it quite a while it grows another 'mother' on the top which you have to skim off to make another batch!!! ACV forever!! I am waiting for my 'bucket' to arrive, before I can get started. I can't wait!! The bucket I have ordered has an air lock on the top (like you would use in a demi-john when making wine). When I lived in Kuwait (being a dry state) I used to make our own wine and beer!

What a down-turn, Shirls - from wine and beer to ACV. All that effort, I'd want to be able to drink it, and enjoy it! I'm sure with your experience and knowledge, you could be selling ACV along with your eggs, if you wanted to. My mum used to make and bottle beer, back in the days when money was tight. She was even given a proper keg by the next doors' ..... they were about three miles away. It took a bit, but she did it, and so different now with all the easy to use kits around.

You can drink the ACV Hezz, it has very good medicinal properties and is a good cold remedy. Hopefully mine will be nice enough to drink too. My brewing bucket has just arrived. Yaaaay!! Mmmmm, well there's a thought, selling ACV and eggs!!

Yeah, I know you can, and people do, drink ACV. I would prefer the beer or wine, though. Glad your bucket has arrived; now only a month or so before we get to hear about results.

I used to drink it, when I was giving it to Bailey. I might buy some, it definitely helps digestion too. Mind you, stopping overeating would too, lol
Or we can just all order from Shirls F

ACV update: Made a major cock-up because on reading the recipe (properly) found that you can't brew ACV in a plastic bucket, which I had already ordered as you know. So had to wait to get a gallon jar. Anyway, ACV ingredients went down yesterday. So it's now stirring every day for a week.

Makes sense, really. The reason you are doing this and had problems in the first place was a plastic bottle, wasn't it??
