Contemplating starting up with a few Budgies.....just building a couple of sections in a shed.....L shape small section measuring 4ft x 3ft and a 6ft x 4ft which will give access to a small outdoor aviary.....thinking of keeping about 12 Budgies, will be putting in a wire floor throughout about 8 inches off floor which will be removable for cleaning, if I decide to ever breed will probably be communal breeding because of lack of room...any tips advice greatly appreciated cheers Bob.

Hi and welcome bobw61! Exciting times then! Have you kept birds/budgies before? There is a section on the forum with posts about building and having an aviary ( here) which you may be able to get some useful info from Oh and we love pictures too so if you are able to share pictures we can see how far your getting on! Glad you found us

Hello.....I live in Grimsby they would be housed in a good quality shed....aviary would be closed off and access only on suitable Autumn/Winter days....probably be either late Autumn early Winter when I start up....still doing shed up at moment.

Communal breeding is fraught with a whole host of issues, if you do decide to breed, particularly in a confined space. Aggression in hens can lead to them killing other hens, other eggs and chicks. It usually comes with more problems than it is worth.
