Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any travel case recommendations for our budgie, Puddle. We already have one of the soft collapsible cases, which was fine for shorter journeys, but the cage is quite dark and the cage netting not ideal for climbing.
I've seen a few potential cages on Amazon, but wanted to check with other budgie owners for any reviews or recommendations, as the products don't have many onsite reviews.
Thanks,
Al (and Puddle)

I use one of those small plastic pet carriers, usually with a ladder in it with millet clipped to it. Sometimes a hot water bottle under a pillow case at the bottom if it's cold. Kind of like these ones

I got one of those too after Marianne Marlow made me aware of them. I got mine from pets at home. Here’s Squawk in it recently.

Bailey was always in his normal cage, if I had him in the car for any reason. He was strapped in, on the high perch near to me, looking out of the window. Loved it

For a journey of that length, I would use a small normal cage, rather than a travel carrier. Budgies love to look out and watch where they are going. If he does seem stressed at any time, just throw a cover over the cage to help keep him calm. Take out anything that will swing about and bump him, a sprig of millet is easier to handle than normal seed, and stop periodically to offer him a drink. Water in the cage when traveling will just spill, so take it out. He can certainly go three hours without needing a drink.

We always used our quarantine cage and they seemed fine with it during the 4-5 hour journeys we used to do before moving back closer to family.

I use a small travel cage. It has a perch and a seed pot but is very small, in my experience most birds like to perch. It depends really. I had a bird who I couldn't get into the travel cage so it was easier then to use a carrier as the opening is bigger.
